Undoubtedly one of the best parts of gastro crawling through San Diego is meeting new people. While we waited for a tow truck driver to come unlock my keys from my car (doh!) after a 6 hour day of shooting for my frozen treats article (sdnn.com), a woman at Wine Steals eyeballed the fro-yo in my hand. ‘want it? haven’t touched it,’ i offered. Her friends laughed heartily, and told us she’d been talking all day about craving fro-yo. Chris captured the pretty lady eating scrumptious bite after bite… how i wish this photo had sound effects! Seeing her smile felt so good i forgot about my lactose overdose. At least for a few minutes.

If you can look past these handsome beef patties laced with sexy-ass bacon, behold one of the best frozen desserts i’ve ever consumed: the chocolate malt at Hodad’s in Ocean Beach. Oh malt, let my mouth be the shore where your waves of chocolate break. And let my blood that runs hot with passion for you crash, into diabetic shock, so that i learn my lesson. Better in the emergency room than in a dressing room.

So it’s fairly certain that there is something wrong with me. i write love songs for chocolate malts. And not just malts. i hope you’ll read my upcoming article on sdnn.com, and check in here for more behind the scenes frozen sweets stuff. Lick!

There are few things that lure me from bed before 10am. If it’s before 8am, it had better be a goddamn emergency, or some seriously serious shit. For instance, tomorrow i will be in Escondido by 7am for FM 94.9’s 4th of July weekend kick-off party at Stone World Bistro and Gardens. Mmm, beer- before breakfast! Tommy and Hansen good men to think of this!

(i will be lounging right here tomorrow… celebrating what it is to be an unemployed (but independent!) American)

What’s even more exciting is the tasting line-up. Every hour starting at 9am local craft brewers will lead tastings- that cost 94 cents each! That’s something an unemployed broad such as myself can get excited about…Hope to see you there.

9AM:
featuring Yellowtail Pale Ale and Sculpin IPA
10AM:
Tomme Arthur of Port Brewing/Lost Abbey
featuring 10 Commandments and Wipeout IPA
12 Noon:
1PM:
Jim Crute of Lightning Brewery
