LA here i come… again
5.18.09
i’m headed to Hollywood for the National Launch Party of Mutineer Magazine. i am nervous. This is the first time i get to read/see my work in a national publication. What will people say? What will people think? i’ll let you know. In the meantime, here are some photos from the premiere of Anat Baron’s documentary ‘Beer Wars’, and the after-party last month. Can’t wait for you to read my response to the film in this issue of Mutineer. (Beer panel hosted by Ben Stein after the film premiere at UCLA’s Royce Hall.)
(omg, do you know who this is?! Todd Alstrom of Beer Advocate toasting Stone at the premiere of Beer Wars)
This man makes some fucking great beer. Sam Calagione, Brewer, Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales.
Sam was one of the brewers whose story was featured in ‘Beer Wars.’
My current favorites of his are Palo Santo Marron and Aprihop.
If you are in SD and would like to drink some Dogfish Head ales, Neighborhood currently has Midas Touch on draft and Palo Santo in the bottle. Blind Lady Ale House has Aprihop on draft.

Amy T…. Let me know when you’ll make a stop at the PB Taproom ( http://www.sdtaproom.com/ ). You will love the ‘Live Beer’ link on the website, and the 40 + choices mostly grouped by SD Breweries. I’m a neighbor and a regular here, and have followed the SD beer scene since the days of Bolt Brewing in Fallbrook. By the way… should have been 9 great locals…. Alpine Duet!
Happy Imbibing… Frank

We did the drive, too! I thought we were crazy, but it was totally worth it, and the surprise free beer afterwards and chance to talk to the people from the panel was a nice bonus.
Good to know we aren’t the only crazy people in San Diego. That day started with a guest apparence on 91X Beer for Breakfast, and ended meeting and talking to people leaving the movie at the San Diego showing… whew!
